Basic Management Area Regulations

|
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
- All rules of gun safety shall be observed. target shooting is prohibited. No hunting or shooting within 200 yards of any building. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Persons intoxicated or careless with firearms shall be expelled from hunts immediately.
|
FIREARMS:
- No firearms shall be permitted during the closed season on game birds and animals.
|
FORFEITURE OF HUNTING PRIVILEGES:
- If while on a wildlife management area any person violates any rule or regulation adopted by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, or any game and fish statute, and is convicted for that violation, that person may be requited by the area manager to forfeit, for the remainder of the license year, all hunting and fishing privileges on that wildlife management are. In addition, the Commission may revoke, for a period of one calendar year, the person's privileges to hunt and fish on all wildlife management areas within the state. Before the revocation of a person's privileges to hunt and fish on all wildlife management areas within the state, the person shall be given notice by certified mail, return receipt requested, setting out the grounds on which revocation is sought, and the person shall have a right to be heard before the Commission at its next regular meeting.

ALL VEHICLES
- within, entering or leaving a wildlife management area are subject to check at roadblocks or checkpoints for compliance with game and fish and/or wildlife management area laws and regulations.
|
ALL PERSON FIFTEEN (15) YEARS OF AGE OR YOUNGER,
- while hunting on a wildlife management area, must be in the immediate vicinity and under the direct supervision of an adult, twenty-one (21) years of age or older, at all times who will be responsible for the minor's actions.
|
YOUTH HUNTS:
- Persons eligible to participate in specially disignated youth hunts are those who are fifteen (15) years of age or younger.
|
HUNTER ORANGE:
- When hunting deer with a firearm on a wildlife management are, including during special hunts, hunters must wear in full view a minimum of 500 square inches of solid unbroken fluorescent orange. When hunting quail or rabbit on a wildlife management area, hunters must wear a hunter orange vest or cap.
|
DOGS:
- Dogs are not allowed on wildlife management areas during closed seasons except by field trial permit.
|
ROADS:
- No hunting or loaded weapons allowed within 100 feet of the right of way of any public road. Public roads are any roads maintained with federal, state or local funds. No motorized vehicles allowed on any roads blocked or posted as closed, or on any wildlife food plots.
|
HARASSMENT
- of wildlife, including spotlighting, is prohibited.
|
TREE STANDS AND BLINDS:
- It shall be illegal or construct or to hunt from any permanent stands or blinds. Destroying, defacing, cutting, driving nails into or otherwise damaging any standing live tree, natural feature or plant is prohibited.
|
BAITING AND FEEDING:
- No bait or feed is allowed on the area at any time. Hunting over bait or feed is prohibited. No food plots may be placed on the area except by area personnel.
|
DURING DEER SEASONS WITHOUT DOGS:
- The use of organized drivers and standers in which drivers make noises by shooting, whistling or any noise making devices is prohibited.
|
BEAVERS, COYOTES, AND HOGS:
- Are classified as predatory animals and may be killed during any open season on a wildlife management area with weapons and ammunition legal for that season.
|
POSTING OF REGULATIONS:
- Area Managers are responsible for posting regulations, and changes thereto, at each check-in-station and at the area headquarters.
|
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

RELEASE OF ANY ANIMAL OR PLANT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. |
PERMIT STATIONS:
- All visitors must obtain a daily use permit from one of the self-service stations. This permit must be legibly filled out and displayed on the dash of the vehicle so that the name and address are visible from the outside. Upon completion of each day's visit, users must complete the reverse side of the permit card and deposit it in the drop box of one of the permit stations. Permits are invalid if not properly dated or if date has been changed.

DATA COLLECTION:
- Data collection materials are available at area headquarters. All deer must be checked at Area Headquarters.
|
GUNS:
- Centerfire rifles, shotguns with slugs or buckshot, and handguns may be used for hunting deer during gun seasons. Certerfire rifles, shotguns with slugs or buckshot, and handguns are prohibited except during gun seasons for deer. When hunting deer with handgun, no other gun may be in possession.
|
VEHICLES:
- No parking of vehicles in front of permit stations, gates, or along roads in such manner as to obstruct passage by others. Street-legal motorized vehicles allowed on maintained numbered roads. Low tire pressure ATV's may be used on designated trails only. Unarmed hunters may retrieve legally-harvested deer with ATV's.

CAMPING:
- Visitors must camp only in designated camp sites during hunting season. Capers must fill out a daily hunting season. Campers must fill out a daily use permit from a self-service station and display it so the name and address are visible from the outside of the camping unit. Camping equipment must not be left unattended for more that 24 hours except in emergencies when written permission can be attained from law enforcement officers. Destroying, defacing, cutting, driving nails into, putting wire onto, or otherwise damaging any standing live trees is prohibited. Construction of structures on the management area or in the hunt camps is prohibited. No garbage pick-up service is available. Take garbage with you and dispose of it in proper manner.

HORSES:
- No horses allowed during deer and turkey seasons.
|
HANDICAPPED ACCESS:
- USFS Road 151 and 107-L are available for individuals meeting requirements of Public Notice 3518; other foot traffic welcome.
|
SPECIAL USE AREA:
- Immediately east of area headquarters for persons who are paraplegic or hemiphegic, permanently dependent upon a wheelchair for mobility, who require permanent use of braces, full prosthesis, crutches for walking, have a complete single leg amputation, chronic pulmonary or cardiovascular conditions as described in Public Notice 3518. Antlerless deer and legal bucks may be taken by persons eligible to hunt in this area.
